Feature: The Spinto Band
I'm beginning to feel like a "second-run" blog. Like Voxtrot before them, The Spinto Band are yet another band that has already lost its new car smell. (Enough with the analogies!) Apparently, they're pretty popular in Europe. They also helped sell some toaster ovens and lawn mowers for Sears. Again, old news.
And yet, here I am, posting an interview feature of a band that everyone has already talked about. Why? Because I still like them and listen to them. "Crack the Whip" and "Brown Boxes" are great little pop-rock songs. And "Oh Mandy" is better than any of the CYHSY songs it always gets compared to. I'm not sure if I'm subconciously starting a campaign to lengthen the average lifespan of blog-bands, but if I am, I'd like to think it's because of bands like this one.

Great video. Thanks for showing me some great new bands that I would have never heard of otherwise.
aw man i love this band. great video, once again!
The Spinto Band rock!
hey pete,
i guess since i don't read blogs, i don't get why you're appologizing kind of for posting an "ex post facto" band. Like, maybe blogs are saying "spinto band is not cool to like anymore." So then it would seem that blogs are all about the hype they bring to themselves and not this new music they profess to love before anyone else. if staying ahead of the curve is the only important part, then shouldn't new bands want to avoid bloggers like the plague? If people are turning on a band before their promoting it can really pay off, then what's the point of the promotion in the first place? I mean, it just seems like a case of giving the pimple-faced kid living in his parents' basement more power than he deserves. which, i suppose is the whole point of blogging anyways. nice interview.
no, the blogs haven't "turned" on them. "the blogs" still like spinto (and voxtrot), its just that they've moved on to other newer bands. new infatuations. they might even still be listening to spinto band. it's just that they don't post about them as much anymore. with posting, it's like the thrill of a new relationship. blogs are constantly looking for a new chick to go to third base with. once they get there...they're already looking to bat again...maybe thats why a lot of blog bands don't make it "home" very often...
but still, the promotion never HURTS. start reading more blogs and you'll begin to understand.
and why a lot of bloggers themselves don't make it "home" very often. ba-dum ching!
